1. What is Black Magic Social Club?

Black Magic Social Club is a creative lifestyle brand rooted in Black art, design, and storytelling. I offer home goods, stationery, and decor that celebrate culture, creativity, and connection.

2. Are your designs made with AI?

Yes, and I don't shy away from this. My pieces are thoughtfully co-created using AI design tools, but always with a human hand intervening. I, (Yves - the founder and designer), use a combination of original art, licensed stock imagery, and AI as a starting point for exploration, then refine, curate, and customize to reflect the aesthetic. I also use a combination of tools like Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Camtasia, etc. Check out my statement on AI + Ethics. I am not trying to steal from artists. I'm trying to expedite my own art creation process.

3. Why use AI in the design process?

I believe technology, when used with care and intention, can help amplify creativity, not replace it. AI allows me to explore visual ideas more freely and push creative boundaries.

Initially, this project started with me making my art that I'd drawn in Procreate into greeting cards, but I didn't feel I'd have the ability to keep up because I work a full time job. I started experimenting with AI by feeding it my own artwork which could be used as a base.  

I was a freelance graphic and web designer for over 10 years, so I definitely understand the hard work that goes into hand creating pieces. It is not my intention to steal anyone's art and I believe artists of all stripes deserve recognition and compensation for their work. 

5. Where are your products made?

I design everything in-house. My paper goods, mugs, and prints are produced with trusted U.S.-based partners who help us ensure quality, durability, and vibrant color. They may source items from United States, Canada, Japan, Sweden, Mexico and China. 

6. Do you offer custom or personalized items?

Not yet, but we’re working on limited-edition and custom offerings in the future. Sign up for our newsletter to be first in line.

7. How long will my order take to ship?

It depends. All of my cards are in stock, so they'll normally ship within 2 days First Class. Most orders are processed and shipped within 2–3 business days. You should expect your purchase within 3-5 business days. Cards ship from Portland, OR. 

Made-to-order items like mugs or canvas prints may take up to 7–10 days to ship. They'll also require processing and manufacturing time, usually, 3-8 days. 

 You’ll get tracking as soon as your order is on its way. Shipping through USPS and UPS.

8. Can I return or exchange my order?

If your item arrives damaged or incorrect, I'll make it right. Please email us within 7 days. Due to the handmade and limited nature of our products, I can’t offer general returns at this time.

9. Do you offer wholesale or bulk orders?

10. How can I stay updated on new releases and projects?

11. Do you only ship to the US? 

Yes. For now, we only ship within the US.
