Bio: Blossom, 38, was a talented chef who ran a small café catering to the workers of Storyville. Known for her gumbo and pralines, Beulah’s café served as a refuge for women in the district seeking a warm meal and a safe place to talk.
The culinary scene in Storyville was as vibrant as its nightlife, with Creole and African American chefs leading the way. Beulah viewed her café as a means to uplift the community and provide dignity in a space that was often marked by exploitation.
